Margo & Fritz walk and then a bit of an unusual rescue mission.

Wallace, Rusty, and McShane were slated to be euthanized at a local shelter (sorry I couldn’t get a picture of Wallace). Sacramento Shelter Rescue Networkers helped network the dogs and Oregon Dog Rescue stepped up to save their lives.

Now all that was left was to get the doggies to Oregon. Transport was found from Sacramento to Oregon and the dogs would be picked up from Dogs Life Dog Boarding which is owned by a women named Starr.

One problem left: the shelter closed at 5:30pm and Starr gets off work at 6pm and lives about 20 miles from the shelter. A plea was emailed out for someone to go to the shelter and wait with the dogs until Starr could pick them up.

Fortunately, I was available. I arrived at the shelter at about 5:15pm and checked all the dogs out, signed the rescue paperwork, and staff (thank you Danielle!) helped me to carry the babies in their carriers out to the front lawn where we set up for the wait. Thanks to a kind donation of dog toys (thank you Delta!) I was able to keep everyone entertained while we sat on the front lawn and waited.

It was great to finally meet Starr, whom I’ve been facebook friends with for a few months now, and I was thrilled to be able to be part of a pawsome rescue mission.

Wishing the dog babies the best of luck in finding their forever homes!

Rusty will get a second chance at life!

McShane is happy to be looking for his forever home!
