We offer cat sitting, dog sitting, dog walking, care for rabbits, chickens, rats, fish and more.
No pets for me today, other than my own!
I do have a foster home check to do on behalf of Chako – yay for a new foster home! We don’t have a facility and rely solely on our foster homes to allow us to save dogs such as Ollie, Mojo, and service-dog-in-training Junior. The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save.
The foster commitment is generally from a few months to a year. Foster parents should be prepared to love and train (with our help, of course) the dogs in their care and transport them to adoption events. Right now, we have two recurring monthly adoption events at PetCo in Citrus Heights and at Incredible Pets on Manzanita. We are planning to add more in the future, maybe one or two.
All dogs that enter our program have been given a thorough temperment evaluation. Due to the current stigma surrounding the breeds that fall under the “pit bull” umbrella, we go to great lengths to rescue true breed ambassadors. Breed ambassadors are rock-solid “bomb-proof” dogs, a true testament to their heritage and breed. We do not rehab dogs. What this means to you as a potential foster home is that you will pretty much be fostering the ideal American Pit Bull Terrier – an eager to please, human loving dog that is just as comfortable running every day as they are to cuddle with you on the couch to watch a good movie.
If you are interested in learning more about our foster program, please email dogs@chako.org for our foster application.
Later this evening, I am going to a Tupperware party in Carmichael to benefit Chako. I’m not sure what I will buy, but I have been looking at their online catalog and they have some pretty neat stuff. If you’d like to support our rescue’s efforts, please email socialmedia@chako.org to be added to our online party – we are taking orders for the next 30 days, and your orders help Chako to save dogs!
