Last weekend, I was driving down Freeport when I noticed two young girls holding a sign that read, “Save Our Dog” amongst a pile of what looked to be a small yard sale.
Curiosity got the best of me and I pulled over to see what was going on.
I was told that the family dog, Buddy, had escaped the yard and was picked up by City of Sacramento Animal Services. The family went down to the shelter on Front Street to reclaim their dog but was told that they would first have to pay the impound fees and if they didn’t pay the fee, Buddy would be euthanized on Tuesday.
Naturally, I couldn’t let that happen but it was late Saturday and the shelter didn’t open again until Tuesday. I gave the girls my card and asked them to call me on Tuesday so I could meet them at the shelter and pay for Buddy to be released.
Well, my phone rang Tuesday late morning and I met the family at the shelter, paid the fee, and watched a very happy Buddy be reunited with his family.
It’s always nice to be in the right place at the right time.
After that joyous reunion, I headed on out to walk Roxy and Maggie. These are two big beautiful girls and it’s really difficult to get any decent photos while walking. I’m working on it though!
