It was beautiful today, windy but the sun was shining and I felt like we should go on a bit of a fieldtrip. Normally, Whit potties on our walks but since we were taking a car ride, I let her out in her backyard to go before we left. She looked confused but then she immediately ran and grabbed her soccer ball. *tears* When I first started caring for her, we used to spend our time playing with the ball in her backyard since she was too young to have all her shots and go for walks yet – she must have remembered those games. Ah, memories.
After the potty break, we loaded up in the car and took a trip to Western Feed and Pet Supply on 34th Street. I think Whit sniffed every square inch of that store. She especially liked the no-stuffing toys, she grabbed one, threw it around, and shook it repeatedly (that’s her attacking the toy in the 3rd pic down, 2nd column). I was hard pressed to get a picture of her face in the store because her nose was in everything! An employee offered to snap a photo to commemorate her visit and I had the honor of trying to hold her still.
After she said hi to everyone in the store and had some treats, we were off to McKinley Park where Whitney rolled around, chased pigeons and ducks….and fell in the pond!
We had been walking around the pond and she was chasing ducks and just having a super time when she suddenly decided that simply watching them swim off wasn’t enough. *PLOP* goes Whitney in the water. Luckily I always use a harness so she wasn’t in any danger other than getting wet. She managed to pull herself out of the water while onlookers had a good laugh. Then she was ready to chase more ducks!
Of course, the pond at McKinley isn’t exactly sparkling clean so we stopped by my house for a nice bath – I couldn’t take her back home smelling like swamp thing!
